How's your human? My profile

This site is a quiet place, and I want to be plain about what it does and does not know about you. No part of it asks for your name, and you never have to sign in to read or use it. Here is what happens with information while you are here.

What I collect, and why

To see how this site is actually used, so I can make it clearer, I collect anonymous usage information: which pages you visit and for how long, how you move through them (cursor movement and scrolling), and which buttons or options you click. It is tied only to a random id your browser makes up, never to your name, and it never records anything you type.

Your browser’s memory

A small amount of information is kept in your own browser so the site can remember where you were, such as your progress and reflections you have started, along with that random id. This stays on your device, and clearing your browser data clears it.

Telling humans from bots

When you arrive, an invisible check from Cloudflare (called Turnstile) helps tell a real person from an automated bot. It does not identify you. It only lets the site keep the numbers honest and keep bots out.

Things you choose to share

If you write a reflection or a check-in, or send a message through the contact form, that is something you chose to share, and it is kept so I can read it and so the site can show it back to you. Anything shown to other people is only shown because you asked for it to be. A message you send through the contact form comes to me privately.

The community space

The .village community runs on Discord, which is a separate service with its own privacy terms. What you do there is governed by Discord, not by this page.

What I do not do

I do not sell your information, I do not run advertising trackers, and I do not hand your data to anyone for their own use. The only companies involved are the ones that actually run the site for me: the web host, and Cloudflare, which serves the pages and stores the anonymous usage information.

Your choices

You can use the whole site without an account. If you would like to know what, if anything, is tied to your browser id, or you would like it removed, reach me through the contact form on this site and I will take care of it.

Where this happens, and getting involved

The reflecting you do here lives in a few gathering places, and you can wander all of them from the .human page: the Emotion Atlas, the body map and its check-ins, the Quests, and the reflections you write. Seeing them is the clearest way to know what is ever kept, because it is only ever what you chose to explore or write.

If you want to be part of what this is learning, you can join as a research participant through the DOT Research Lab. That is where the studies live and where you can see what we are finding together, and you can take a short tour of what each exhibit is learning, or see it gathered in one place on the Living Data page. Taking part is always your choice, and you can stop whenever you want.

There is also a way to get involved as a helper, not only as a participant. That path is closed for now. When it opens again, it will be described here and in the Research Lab.

Changes

If any of this changes, I will update this page. Last updated July 2026.
